Tri-Alliance-Squad

Dear Tri-Alliance Family,

Unless you have been living under a rock (or a pile of toilet paper), you will no doubt be aware of the increasing number of cases of COVID–19, or coronavirus, appearing in Australia. With local colleges now closing and many other major institutions putting plans in place for closure and social distancing, the health and safety of all Tri-Alliance members and their families is of high priority.

Given this, I write to advise you of the latest developments regarding the COVID-19 in the community and the measures we will action in the event of exposure to the virus in our community.  Tri-Alliance is following the advice of the Department of Health and Human Services when making decisions and considering our health (https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus)

At the present time there is no need to panic, nor to take actions like limiting your movement in the community or staying at home. However, it is important to remain vigilant and concerned, and to act on the best health advice available.

We ask that all members take care of their own health, and that of other members, by following these 10 steps:

  1. Wash hands often with soap and running water, for at least 20 seconds. Dry with paper towel or hand dryer.
  2. Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
  3. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don’t have a tissue cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow.
  4. Isolate yourself at home if you feel sick. If you take medication, ensure you have adequate supplies.
  5. Phone your GP first if you need medical attention. They will tell you what to do.
  6. Continue healthy habits: exercise, drink water, and get plenty of sleep.
  7. Don’t wear a face mask if you are well.
  8. Buy an alcohol-based hand sanitiser with over 60 per cent alcohol.
  9. Get the flu shot (available April).
  10. Handshakes, sweaty high fives and hugs are optional – and don’t be offended if someone politely declines your offer!

From now on:

  • Anyone experiencing fever or flu-like symptoms, such as coughing, a sore throat, headaches or difficulty in breathing, please do not attend group training sessions.
  • Anyone attending with symptoms described above will be asked to leave the session, as a matter of common sense and respect to others.
  • If you believe you have been in contact with others who may have contracted COVID-19, please inform us as soon as possible and seek further advice from the correct health authorities.
  • If you have recently travelled overseas or domestically, particularly via airports, please make good judgement on where you have been and whom you may have been in contact with, before deciding to attend sessions

Should you be planning to travel overseas, it is important that you are aware of the travel warnings that are in place. A summary of these warnings can be found here. It is possible that you will be asked to self-quarantine on your return. If this is the case, we would ask you to respect this and let us know.

We will provide updates as soon as we know anything and will continue to be transparent and forthcoming with communication in the best interests of the team.

Remember, your training goal or next race will always be there, your health and that of others is far more important!

In good health and well being,
