SPRING IS HERE
Build race-day habits before race-day pressure arrives
September adds more specific work to the foundation built through winter. This week, use that shift to practise the details that make racing calmer: pacing, fuelling, hydration, equipment and a program you can follow with confidence.

A Father’s Day thank you
We hope every Tri Alliance dad, father figure and family had a great Father’s Day yesterday. Endurance sport rarely happens alone. Behind the early alarms, long rides and race starts are families making room, sharing the load and cheering from places most people never see.
Thank you to the dads who train with us, coach, volunteer, drive, carry bags, fix bikes, stand on sidelines and help somebody else keep going. We hope Sunday included good company, a little recovery and perhaps even a quiet session of your own.

This Week’s Training Focus
September is where the winter foundation starts becoming more race-specific. Expect aerobic endurance and strength to remain, with more purposeful speed and threshold work layered into the week.
• Easy sessions still need to be easy enough to support the quality work.
• Faster sessions should be controlled by the prescribed pace, power or effort, not the athlete beside you.
• Long sessions become the place to rehearse race fuelling, hydration and equipment.
• Recovery becomes more important as session specificity rises.
Short Course athletes will see relatively more threshold and race-pace work. Long Course athletes keep endurance as the larger anchor while practising sustainable race execution. Follow your individual program because race date, training history and current load still shape the prescription.

Your new Tri Alliance member home is ready to explore
The new website is a major step forward. Your profile, community, groups, teams, planner, events, questions, messages, notifications and membership now sit in one connected member experience powered by Coachly.
Ollie has built a clear visual walkthrough showing where everything lives and what to try first. Start with My Profile, review what you share publicly, then explore your connections, squad spaces and training view. Private health information remains protected.
Simple how-to guides will continue to roll out. If you get stuck, use Emma on the website or email us with feedback.

Coachly is in athlete testing
Several Tri Alliance athletes already have access to the new Coachly app and are testing it in real training weeks. The early experience is exciting: the product is close to launch, and current testing is helping Ollie tighten the details before wider access opens. We will share the launch steps when they are ready.

September Training Phase: Strength, Endurance and Speed
The new phase does not replace the winter foundation. It layers speed and threshold onto it. This guide explains what changes for beginners, Short Course athletes and Long Course athletes, and why faster work only helps when recovery and aerobic consistency remain in place.

Coach’s Corner: train your gut before race day
From Head Coach Ollie
Your nutrition plan is not ready because the packet fits in your pocket. It is ready when you have used the same products, timing and bottle concentration during the sessions that resemble your race.
Start early in the session. Record what you actually consume. Change one thing at a time. Wind trainer is a particularly useful place to practise because the conditions are controlled, bottles and food are easy to reach, and the heat and humidity make hydration relevant without the handling demands of riding outdoors.
This matters for everyone, and it becomes more important as racing gets longer. Athletes building towards Noosa, Melbourne 70.3 or Busselton should be testing the plan now, not in the final week.

One race-readiness job this week
Pick the event you are building towards and close one small gap: confirm travel, check bike servicing, replace worn shoes, test race clothing, practise breakfast or write the first version of your fuelling plan. September is early enough to solve problems calmly. Race week is not.
