ATHLETICS VICTORIA XCR
Athletics Victoria’s XCR series is a cross country and road racing platform which includes runners of all ages and abilities. The idea behind XCR is to bring Victoria’s most enthusiastic long distance runners together for a competition series which allows athletes of a beginner, intermediate and experienced level to compete at some of the best trail and road courses on offer within Australia.
Round 6 was held on Sunday along Albert Park Lake. A fast and flat 10km road race, started and finished at the Lakeside Stadium precinct which included two laps out and back from Lakeside Stadium to Junction Oval on Lakeside Drive. The Albert Park 10km Road Race was the perfect opportunity for athletes to run a fast time or to just enjoy the surrounds of the lake. Monty was out there rubbing shoulders with the big guns and smashed the course in a time of 46:22. He followed the coach’s orders to a tee and came away with his second best 10km time. Not bad for someone in his off-season!
