As we sit in Perth reflecting on the weekend in Busselton we cannot be prouder of our athletes for their dedication and determination in taking on Ironman Western Australia. It was amazing to be on the side lines watching and learning and willing our athletes to give everything their bodies were prepared to on the day. Well done to everyone. You not only did your Coaches proud, more importantly your did yourselves proud!
This weekend is another big one for racing, we estimate around 200 Tri Alliance athletes racing around the country, with around 100 athletes taking on Race 2 of the Gatorade/Active Feet Series in Melbourne, another 80 odd for Race 3 in Queensland and a further 9 for Canberra Half Ironman. Good luck to everyone racing!

IRONMAN WSTERN AUSTRALIA (BUSSO 2012) RESULTS AND WRAP UP
‘When can this just be over??!‘ An athletes desperation around 25km into the marathon leg of the 2012 SunSmart Ironman Western Australia on the weekend. Their race had not gone to plan. They didn’t envisage walking on race day, they hadn’t trained to walk a marathon, but that’s how their race unfolded on the hottest day since landing in WA 5 days earlier. Ironman can be a lonely road at times. It is not a sport for the faint hearted, but it is where athletes are made, and it is where you find all your willpower, determination and search the bottom of your soul to do anything it takes to cross the finishing line and be called an Ironman. No one forces you, no one but yourself. Yet every athlete is prepared to put them self into a place that others can only imagine. Continue reading our Ironman Western Australia wrap up and results here.
ENTRIES ARE NOW OPEN for Triathlon Australia Members – if you want to enter for next years race, make sure you go online here. General entries open on Thursday.

OTHER RACE RESULTS AROUND THE COUNTRY
Sprint Distance Champs – Coomealla
You may be forgiven to missed the results of our two athletes who raced the Sprint Distance Championships in Coomealla NSW on the weekend. But we had two athletes for two podiums. Tri Alliance Ambassador Lisa MacFarlane started her ‘London 2013’ campaign well finishing 3rd in her age group and snapping up some good points. You read Lisa’s race report and follow her journey here.
One of our online coached athlete Tim French continues his great start to the season training with us by winning his age group. Not a bad effort for someone new to the sport! Well done guys, look forward to seeing your results at your next races.
Anaconda – Lorne
Athletes Dale Robinson, Sally Clements and the recently returned Richelle Olsen took on and conquered the mini Anaconda in Lorne on the weekend and had an awesome time while doing so! Well done girls, awesome effort – we look forward to hearing the war stories!! 🙂
Taupo Half
Well done to Nick Sissons on his latest Half Ironman in Taupo. With a haspan leading into the race hampering his run, he finished well considering. Now time to let the wound heel and reset for his next race in the new year – including Ironman Melbourne.

CANBERRA HALF IROMAN – THIS WEEKEND
Sunday 16 December 2012
This weekend we have 9 athletes heading in convoy up the Hume Hwy to Canberra for the Half Ironman. The race starts with a swim in the murky Lake Burley Griffin, the bike this year has been changed to a 5lap flat course due to ongoing road works. This will work in the favour of a number of athletes. Cornering and keeping distance on the course will now be the toughest part, and the relatively flat 3 lap run course can prove to be fast. So good luck to all our athletes racing – we look forward to tracking you on Sunday!
Charlie Nathan M25-29 Melissa Collins F30-34 Jeanette Linehan F40-44
Ariel Grana M35-39 Adam Murone M35-39 Steve Akins M45-49
Paul Venner M45-49 Steve Bridges M50-54 Alex Angelini M50-54

GATORADE RACE 2 – ELWOOD CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL!
We had some fantastic results from Race 1 at StKilda, and with only 3 short weeks in between races, this week we take on Race 2 of the Series at our home ground – Elwood.
This week we have a number of big hitters back racing including Lisa Dominguez, Ryan Bourke, Sarah Grove, along with podium finishers from the first race and those who were just off the mark including Xavier Flynn, Mark Skilton, Kathryn Siddle, Belinda Griffiths to name a few.
The question mark around the race though will be whether it is turned into a duathlon due to impending weather. This obviously won’t suit the swimmers but will favour others. So results could be up for grabs here. Lets hope the weather man is wrong and the good weather continues through to the weekend!
Good luck to our TRY-theTRI’s
