We’re excited to announce a shift that we believe will greatly benefit your training experience. Our wind trainer sessions will return to the familiar setting of MSAC. We are convinced that the move will offer numerous advantages that align with your training needs.
Session Details:
* Date: Every Tuesday night
* Time: Arrive and set up from 6:00 PM, session starts promptly at 6:15 PM
* Location: MSAC, Indoor Pool Deck, Level 1
Key Benefits of Face-to-Face Wind Trainer Sessions at MSAC:
- Immediate Feedback and Corrective Coaching: Face-to-face sessions provide the advantage of real-time feedback from coaches and fellow athletes. Observing your form, posture, and technique in person allows for instant corrections, ensuring you make the most out of each session and minimise the risk of developing incorrect habits.
- Enhanced Motivation and Accountability: Training in a group setting fosters a strong sense of camaraderie and shared goals. The encouragement from peers, combined with the friendly competition, can significantly boost your motivation. Knowing that others are training alongside you can create a positive form of peer pressure that pushes you to give your best effort.
- Interactive Learning: Face-to-face sessions enable you to observe and learn from the training methods and strategies of more experienced athletes in the group. You can ask questions, exchange tips, and engage in discussions that contribute to your overall understanding of triathlon training.
- Improved Communication: While online platforms offer communication tools, there’s nothing quite like face-to-face communication. In-person sessions allow for spontaneous conversations, clarifications, and direct communication with coaches, which can lead to clearer instructions and a better understanding of the training objectives.
- Intense Training Environment: Training in the heat and humidity of the indoor pool deck at MSAC elevates your heart rate, leading to improved cardiovascular endurance, better oxygen utilization, increased blood volume, and enhanced thermoregulation. These adaptations result in greater aerobic capacity, efficient oxygen transport, and improved heat tolerance.
- Mind Over Matter: Participating in sessions on the pool deck exposes you to elements such as heat and humidity, which are uncomfortable. The mental resilience cultivated through challenging conditions prepares you for race-day discomfort and fosters a well-rounded performance edge.
Session Logistics:
* Please bring your own wind trainers. If needed, you can hire one from the TA office for $10 (card or exact cash). This option will be available from 6pm – 6.10pm
* Obviously bring your bikes, a couple of towels and at least 2 water bottles. You may be surprised how much you sweat!
* At times we’ll have one group training together. In subsequent sessions, we’ll split into long course and short course groups.
While online wind trainer sessions have their advantages, face-to-face sessions offer a unique blend of immediate feedback, motivation, interaction, and real-world experience that are crucial for holistic triathlon training. We believe that transitioning back to our MSAC sessions will provide you with a more comprehensive and effective training experience that aligns with your aspirations and goals.
