Let’s get to know a little more about Michelle Leslie…
When did you join TA?
I started with Try the Tri in January 2018
What made you start triathlon?
My work colleagues had been nagging me to do the Corporate Tri for a few years and I wanted to make sure I had some idea what I was doing before embarrassing myself in front of them all! 😉
Tell us about your favourite training moment.
Oh gosh I probably have a couple:
- The first time I rode Kinglake. Not only is it the joy of being out in the country with beautiful views (I like to distract myself from the pain by looking for kangaroos), but a massive sense of achievement and the open fire in the café!!!
- Finishing Hell week with an amazing crew last year.
What do you do when you’re not swimming, riding and running?
Book holidays! From short weekends away, hiking and camping trips, snow trips, completely unplanned road trips and International trips visiting friends. There is nothing better than time away in a new location with some of your favourite people (not so much of that happening this year…)
If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
I’d like everyone to be able to see themselves through the eyes of someone that loves them.
Do you have a favourite quote?
In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.
We know you love your travel, what’s your ideal holiday?
Ha ha ha! Whoops I already started by ranting above!
This is tough… Each holiday serves a different purpose, so I don’t necessarily have an ideal holiday or dream destination. But it would include a backpack, great restaurants, amazing food markets, a mountain to hike up or ski down and enjoy the views from, plenty of local bars to get lost in and a like-minded friend or 20 to enjoy it all with!
The most amazing holiday I’ve been on in the last few years, was travelling to New York for my 40th. It wasn’t the destination or the party that was amazing, it was having 17 friends and family from all over the world (some of which I hadn’t seen for 10 years) there with me and just hanging out in an amazing city with them for 3 weeks together. It was constantly overwhelmed by how much effort they had all made to be there with me.
