What an amazing and emotional Tri Alliance End of Season Presentation Night in the beautiful and picturesque venue at The Baths Middle Brighton to celebrate the achievements of our athletes during the 2013/2014 Triathlon Season.

What is touted as ‘the biggest social event of the year’, the 2013/2014 Tri Alliance End of Season Presentation Night definitely lived up to its reputation.

120 athletes, friends and family dressed up in their finest, let their hair down, celebrated athletes achievements and danced the night away into the early hours of the morning.

Our MC for the night Andrew ‘Chappo’ Chapman took charge of proceedings from the beginning and managed to keep even the rowdiest tables entertained throughout the night. So a big thank you to Chappo.

A big thanks also goes to ‘DJ Dave’ for keeping the music flowing through the night, judging by some moves on the dancefloor, one could say he did a superb job!

Due to some technical issues on the night we were unable to play some amazing video and picture montages that our longest standing athlete Ian ‘Roofi’ Renouf spent time putting together, we thank Roofi for his time and you can check out these 5 videos now here:

The Night focuses on celebrating the achievements of athletes who have had great seasons, dedicating their time and energy to their training and racing and supporting and promoting the ‘TA Way’. Some big awards awarded, plenty of raffle prizes won, plus not to mention our coveted Zoolander Award – a highlight of the evening as always!

John Cornish Memorial Scholarship:
The formal part of the evening finished with the most prestigious award of the night – the John Cornish (JC) Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was formed by JC in 2011, originally named the Tri Alliance Scholarship award. However after the sudden passing of Coach JC on 22 July 2011 in a tragic bike accident, it was only fitting that with JC’s family’s blessing, we renamed the award and dedicate this Memorial Scholarship in his memory. The recipient of this award receives full support from Tri Alliance including coaching, consultations, training camps plus more. To receive this award is a huge honour amongst Tri Alliance athletes.

Every year it is tough for our Coaches to choose an athlete for this award, but in the end we we knew this athlete was just right in being awarded the Scholarship for this Season – so congratulations again Andy Wood-rich.

“Thank you to Ollie, Sarah, and the rest of the Tri Alliance leadership group for this unbelievable opportunity, to my wife and family for allowing me the freedom to chase my goals and the support to achieve them. Finally, thank you John Cornish. It was a privilege to have known you and I feel proud and humbled to have been given the honour of carrying on your legacy this year.”
Those there on the night could see and feel how much this award means to Andy, and you can read Andy’s Blog here on what this award truly means to him.
