Welcome to Meet the TA Family. In this series, we take a closer look at the incredible individuals that form the backbone of our triathlon squad. Beyond the rigorous training sessions and the thrill of racing, it’s about connecting on a personal level, building relationships, and embracing the camaraderie that makes us more than just a team.  Meet the TA Family is an opportunity for us to celebrate not only the athlete within, but the person behind the sport.

1. What inspired you to start doing multisport events?
“Being an injured runner! I turned to swimming to maintain fitness, and a bit of encouragement from Sez pushed me to dive into the multisport world.”

2. What was your last race and how did you go?
“My last multisport event was the World Age Aquathlon Championships, where I placed 6th in the 25-29 category. Otherwise, I’ve been busy competing in the Athletics Victoria Cross Country / Road season.”

3. What’s your favourite discipline: swimming, biking, or running? Why?
“Definitely running! You can chat with others while running, but it’s a bit hard to talk while swimming!”

4. Do you have any specific goals for this season?
“I’m hoping to improve my run leg and chase down a 5km PB – getting under 19 minutes again would be amazing!”

5. What other sports or activities do you enjoy outside of triathlon?
“I absolutely love cross country and trail running – the longer, hillier, and muddier the race, the better!”

6. What’s your go-to post-race treat?
“Choccy milk or Milo, every time.”

7. What’s your next race or big event?
“I’m aiming to compete in the 2025 Aquathlon Age Championships in Spain! But before that, I’ll be tackling the swim leg at Melbourne 70.3 with Coach Sez.”

8. What’s your favourite local training spot?
“I live out west and love running around the You Yangs or swimming at Williamstown Beach.”

9. Do you prefer solo training or group sessions?
“I love group sessions! It’s always fun to socialise and, of course, grab brunch afterwards!”

10. Who is your biggest supporter or role model in the sport?
“Honestly, it’s everyone who’s out there giving it a red-hot go! Managing work and training is tough, and anyone who does that inspires me.”

11. If you could compete in any triathlon/event anywhere in the world, where would it be?
“I’d love to compete in a trail race in Europe, or maybe even an Aquathlon in Greece one day.”

12. Do you have a pre-race ritual or routine?
“Not really, but I always make sure to grab a pre-race coffee!”

13. What advice would you give to someone considering their first triathlon?
“Just give it a go and have fun!”

Welcome again, Claire! We’re so excited to have you as part of the squad and can’t wait to see you thrive in the upcoming season.
