WELCOME TO THE #ADVENTURESOFSHARKANDSTEPH

Here we will share the ins and outs of our tri training and racing, and everything in between! From 5am wake ups to the all important post-training brunch. We’ll share words, photos, and videos, as well as the things that keep us inspired and motivated to get to training and on track to achieve our goals.

Steph’s season so far:

Goals set way back in April for a season focused on Sprint changed after a late waitlist offer for my first Olympic distance, none other than the Noosa Tri…and then they changed again when,

feeling a bit apprehensive about my first OD, a last minute entry at the Yarrawonga Mulwala Multisport Festival resulted in a 3rd place and my first of what would be many ITU World Championship Qualifying races. With Laura Sidall’s ‘don’t die wondering’ in the back of my mind, I headed to Canberra, Moana Beach in South Australia, and Seven Mile Beach in Tassie to see what would happen at some other qualifying races. The results were a 5th and two 4th place results respectively, placing me near the top of the list with only 3 races to go. There have been a few other races in between to keep things a little less serious but my eyes are now set on race 3 of the 2XU Triathlon Series at Elwood this weekend. And I am very excited to race for my first time this season, not only on home soil but with the on course support and cheers of the TA crew!

Eddy’s season so far:

2017… w-h-a-t  a  y-e-a-r! The year I’ll remember forever as the one I started my journey in triathlon. I joined TRI-ALLIANCE, I have made heaps of new friends in the club, I have trained in a way I have never done before and, I have learned so much about determination, discipline, consistency, focus, mental health and so on. An absolutely fantastic/special/unique year in my life for sure. Honestly, many thanks for letting me learn from you/share so many special moments with you, champions.

After improving my basis on the sport and getting fitter in the past year, 2018 brings new dreams/challenges/possibilities/goals to me in triathlon. After a solid 2017, including my first 70.3 race (Challenge Shepparton), I’m currently trying to keep myself consistent to my training sessions/program aiming to do another great race in Geelong on the 18th of February (Ironman Geelong 70.3 – come and show your support to our squad there, it’ll be awesome to have you around ;P and I’m sure you’ll have lots of fun with us). After that, I’ll try racing two other 70.3 events until June and I’ll finally start training for my first Ironman this year (Busselton – Dec/2018).

That’s it, folks! It’ll be amazing to keep sharing all of these experiences/moments/training sessions with you all. It’s essential to me to have you around. I truly value your words, experience, knowledge, energy… This is the TA way, right? A way where everyone has something to teach and something to learn. Let’s do it, we got this! Eat some fruits. Train with purpose. Peace!

First up for Steph is race 4 of the 2XU Triathlon Series this weekend. Stay tuned to @trialliance on Instagram as Eddy follows Steph around for an insight into her race preparation, as well as race day itself. Does Steph have any unusual quirks or pre-race rituals?
