BONDY'S RACE RECAP
What a fabulous day it was last Sunday at Elwood for the first race of the 2XU Triathlon Series. Although, in true Melbourne fashion, we saw all four seasons in one day, making it unpredictable for athletes and spectators alike! We had a strong representation in all events with our first bunch of Try-the-Tri graduates making their debut, our regular Sprinters taking to the stage and some seasoned veterans making a well-deserved return to racing. It was clear to see those who had been committed to their training over winter, were consistent with their functional strength work and had targeted specific areas for improvement in the off-season. These athletes reaped the rewards of their hard work, exemplifying the wise words of Frank Ocean,”Work hard in silence. Let your success be your noise.”And boy was it noisy on Sunday! We are so thrilled with everyone who raced under the TA banner. E veryone doing so with a smile on their face (or at least a grimace), showing their joy of participating and enjoying the explosion of endorphin’s at the finish line. That’s why we love this sport! Many success stories came out of the day – PB’s galore, milestone achievements, new distances conquered and first-time finishers just to name a few. And we can’t go past all those athletes who made it in to the TOP 10 in their age group – congratulations!

Let’s continue our incredible momentum as we work our way through the 2XU Series. There’s a race coming up next weekend in Portsea (9th Dec) and for something a little different, it’s all the fun with swim & run! Might be worth making the trip down to snag yourself some series points! And don’t let all the hard work go to waste. The next race will creep up before you know it and you want to make sure you are ready!!!
AUSTRALIAN QUALIFIERS
And while we were having all the fun down at Elwood, we had a couple of athletes who made the trip up to Canberra to compete in the Jackie Fairweather Memorial Triathlon on the hunt for World Champ qualifying points. From all accounts it was a good day out, albeit a little quieter without the TA on-course support! And once you worked out what day you were racing (Stephy!?!?!), it was all systems go! We congratulate both Steph Anderson and Sheridan Brown for setting themselves these inspiring goals and on finishing 5th and 12th respectively in their Age Group’s. We’re so proud to support you both on your journey and wishing you all the very best for making it to the 2018 Australian Age Group Team.
INTERNATIONAL ATHLETES
We knew this girl had talent, but we are thrilled to announce that Elle Brookes competed in her first 70.3 race last weekend in Phuket and finished 2nd place in her AG, earning her a ticket to the World Champs in South Africa next year. Elle has been working with Ollie for only the past five weeks, going through a massive learning curve and putting his program, coaching and advice into action. There’s still plenty of work to do and coach and athlete are already planning what’s next. The journey ahead is very exciting for this one, so stay tuned. Congratulations Elle!
